Walt Disney World is one of the most popular and beloved vacation destinations in the world. However, it can also be an expensive outing. Between park tickets, hotel accommodations, dining, and transportation, the cost of a trip can add up quickly. But don’t worry, there are several ways to save money at disney world.
Let\’s take a look at my go-to ways to save money and plan a cost-effective trip to Walt Disney World.
Travel During the Off-Season
One of the easiest ways to save money on a trip to Walt Disney World is by traveling during the off-season. Generally speaking, this is early May, September, early December, and mid-January through early February. During these times, the crowds are typically lower, and hotel and park ticket prices are often lower as a result.
Consider a “Value” resort
Another way to save money on a Walt Disney World trip is by staying at what Disney calls a Value resort. These include Pop Century, All-Star Sport, Music, and Movies, along with a portion of the Art of Animation resort. These are Disney-quality properties that offer a range of amenities at a fraction of the cost.
Use Discounts and Promotions
Walt Disney World often offers discounts and promotions to help guests save money on their trip. The best discounts are on typically tied to packages that include a resort stay and park tickets. By taking advantage of these offers, guests can save a significant amount of money.
Bring Your Own Food and Drinks
One of the easiest ways to save money on a Walt Disney World trip is by bringing your own food and drinks. Packing snacks and drinks can help save money on meals. All Disney resort rooms have mini-refrigerators and microwaves can often be found in resort food court areas for guests to use. In addition, Disney allows guests to bring their own food and drinks into the parks – a huge benefit for those traveling with littles.
Use Free Transportation
Walt Disney World offers free transportation between hotels, theme parks, water parks, and the Disney Springs shopping complex. Additionally, all Disney resort guests park free at both resort and theme parks. By taking advantage of this benefit, guests can save money on rental cars and parking. The transportation options include buses, boats, and monorails – making it convenient to get around the resort without additional incurring additional cost.
Stay Longer, Save More…er
Buying longer multi-day park tickets can save money from a per-day perspective. For example, the difference between a five-day vs six-day park ticket is a relatively small price difference when compared to the difference between a two-day vs three-day ticket multi-day ticket. So – the longer you stay, the more you save.
Plan Your Meals
Dining can be a significant expense during a Walt Disney World trip. To save money on meals, research dining options and plan your meals in advance. Consider bringing snacks and drinks into the parks, as well as booking reservations at quick-service restaurants rather than sit-down restaurants. In addition, consider purchasing refillable mugs offered at many Disney resorts, which can help save money on drinks during your stay.
